MISSING MALYAYSIAN AIRLINES FLIGHT MH370 - SEARCH CONTINUES
Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 was a scheduled international passenger flight that disappeared on 8 March 2014 en route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing Capital International Airport.
The aircraft operating the service, a Boeing 777-200ER, last made contact with air traffic control less than an hour after take-off. The aircraft was operated by Malaysia Airlines and was carrying 12 crew members and 227 passengers from 15 nations and regions.
The missing Malaysian plane may have secretly flown at just 5,000 feet to avoid radar, it was claimed tonight.
Taking a plane to such a low altitude - a technique called “terrain masking” - would have avoided detection on standard commercial radar equipment.
Investigators believe whoever was flying the Boeing 777 used terrain masking, which uses natural contours like hills and mountains, to hide the plane from satellite systems.
Malaysian investigators now think the plane flew at such low heights over three unnamed countries.A massive search and rescue mission continued tonight covering a huge 30 million square mile area.
A total of 26 countries were tonight involved in the search, stretching across much of Asia.
Malaysian politician: Flight 370 pilot supported me, but was no hijacker
Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim says the captain of MH 370 is a card-carrying member of his party -- and an extremely distant relative -- but he dismissed suggestions the pilot may have diverted the plane as a political act in his support.Hours before the Malaysia Airlines flight vanished en route to Beijing on March 8, Anwar, de facto leader of the People's Justice Party, was sentenced to five years in jail after a court overturned his 2012 acquittal on a sodomy charge.
Some media outlets have reported that the plane's pilot, Zaharie Ahmad Shah, had attended the court hearing, and speculated that the flight's disappearance may have been a political act in response to the verdict. As authorities increasingly focused their attentions on events in the cockpit, the homes of Zaharie and First Officer Fariq Abdul Hamid were searched, and a homemade flight simulator found in Zaharie's home, Malaysian officials revealed..
Investigations into the mystery of the missing Malaysian jet appeared to be at a deadlock on Wednesday, with an exhaustive background search of the passengers and crew showing nothing untoward and no sign that the plane could be quickly found.
Eleven days have passed since Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 went missing, and 26 nations are struggling to search for the airliner over an area roughly the size of Australia, or more than two-thirds the size of the United States.
"All the efforts must be used to actually narrow the corridors that we have announced - I think that is the best approach to do it. Otherwise we are in the realm of speculation again," Malaysia's Acting Transport Minister Hishammuddin Hussein told reporters late yesterday.
Lets pray for all the passengers to be in a good health and missing flight would be found early.Give your feedbacks about this news.Your views are appreciated.
