CARDLESS CASH WITHDRAWAL SCHEME LAUNCHED BY ICICI BANK

Customers of ICICI Bank can now withdraw cash from ATMs without their debit card and transfer funds to anyone in India, even if that person doesn't have an account in any bank. All they need is a mobile number.
"We foresee tremendous growth potential in the usage of electronic payments in our country," said ICICI Bank Executive Director Rajiv Sabharwal. "This service will empower our customers as well as their families and friends by giving access to instant money, even without having a bank account or a debit card."
To transfer money, the customer needs to register the recipient's name, mobile number and address via Internet banking. The sender will get a four-digit verification code when the money is transferred and the recipient a six-number reference code, over SMS.
The recipient can withdraw the money from the lender's more than 10,000 ATMs by keying in the mobile number and the cash amount, along with the verification and reference codes.
The bank's customers can use the service to withdraw cash from their own accounts as well.
